Integrate cobots - with aluminum profile technology from item

Robot cells, robot bases, robot tables and more.

Whether you're using cobots for human-robot collaboration or to autonomously manufacture the smallest of batches, item ensures you can integrate lightweight robots safely and flexibly into your production operations. Options range from robot cells and modular robot bases to extendable robot tables and more. Use our standard solutions as they are, customize them to your needs, or design your own solution from scratch based on our tried-and-tested aluminum profile technology

Example applications in the field of robotics

Collaborative work bench with comprehensive equipment

  • Perfect collaboration – this work bench, in the familiar WBS environment with four electrically height-adjustable Lifting Columns has a heavy-duty profile at the rear with Line 8 grooves for attaching a cobot.

Robot island with doors

  • All set – with this robot island, the frame made from Line 8 profiles also serves as an under-bench cabinet with panelling and door. This offers a safe place to store the control system, for example.

Expandable work bench for cobot integration

  • Perfect for retrofitting, too – this work bench with a half-height Upright can be expanded in many ways. Firstly, a heavy-duty Profile 8 160x40 or Profile 8 200x40 can be added to the Table Top Beech Multi-Ply to attach a cobot.

Compact cabin for rotatory applications

  • The space-saving machine enclosure for robot arms, small rotary indexing tables or other rotatory applications. Process and supply sections are separate and can be accessed via four separate doors.

Guard E

  • Like all item solutions, guard E is versatile and fully compliant with the Machinery Directive.
It is made of impact-resistant, 4 mm-thick polycarbonate and features Safety Hangers 8/8, meaning that users can fit it securely and easily onto vertical struts made from Clamp Profile 8 40x40 E.

Using the building kit system principle from item, you can build exactly the cobot base structure you need. Extendible robot tables for human-robot collaboration can be created to fit seamlessly with the item Work Bench System. Cobot columns can be fitted with floor fixings or mounted on castors so they can be stowed away neatly. Robot cells or robot bases with integrated cable conduits and base cabinets offer a practical way to house robot control systems and accessories.

Robot guard - Stability and safety in line with the Machinery Directive

On some robot applications, the robot’s working area needs to be separated off from areas where people are working, for instance by installing a guard. Various solutions are available from item to suit different requirements and applications. For example, guards incorporating corrugated mesh are ideal for large-scale safety fixtures with openings so materials can be passed through. Alternatively, robot cells using clear, impact-proof polycarbonate panels are perfect when processes need to be monitored closely.

If an autonomous robotics application generates noise and debris, then a sealed robot cell or machine cabin is the answer. When working with item components, robot cabins can be built as either partially or fully enclosed designs. In these cases, Line XMS from item offers an ideal solution. Cables and wires running to and from the cabin can be integrated with ease thanks to the removable cover profiles used in this product line. Its series-standard sealing system also makes sure noise and dust can’t get in or out.
